Common Questions

What is the meaning of baptism?

Baptism is a public expression of our decision to align with the good motives that come from the Creator. Being fully submerged in water symbolizes the death of our old ways, including the need to strive for approval. As Christians, we rise from the water, no longer trying to earn acceptance, but working from a place of already being accepted by the Creator (1 Corinthians 12:13).

  • Baptism Restores Our Humanity- Baptism is stepping into the identity God intended for you by admitting your need and receiving His grace.
  • Baptism Is a Community Moment- Baptism is your entry into the Church, where we celebrate, pray, and walk with you.
  • Baptism Shapes Your Spiritual Formation- Baptism marks the continuance of a life of growth as God forms you into who you were created to be.

Why should I get baptized?

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we must express where our allegiance lies. Once you’ve made the decision to be a citizen of the kingdom of love, baptism gives you the opportunity to express this life-changing decision in front of your family, friends, and church community. Jesus asks us not to hide our light, but to publicly declare that we stand for love as we follow the Creator of the universe (Matthew 5:15).

Who should get baptized?

Anyone who can and has made the decision to align their life's intentions with the Creator’s intentions (Matthew 28:19).

I was baptized as an infant, can I get baptized again?

Yes! Baptism is not only a public expression, but also a personal decision to align with the good motives that come from the Creator. If you haven’t been baptized as a child or adult, we encourage you to consider it as a next step in your spiritual journey. It’s not about dismissing any previous experience, but rather confirming the decision your family might have made for you as an infant (Acts 2:41).

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, like a swimsuit or shorts with a dark-colored t-shirt. You can change in the restrooms on-site. We also suggest bringing your own towel and sandals—but don’t worry if you forget, we’ll have extras available. Plus, you’ll be getting an awesome t-shirt to wear for the baptism and keep afterward!

Baptism Readiness Check:

  1. Have you made a personal decision to follow Jesus?
  2. If previously baptized, was it done when you were a baby or not your choice?
  3. Are you ready to go public with your faith and be rooted in a local church community?

If you’re saying yes, or even maybe, we’d love to walk with you through this.
