What Is Fasting?
Fasting is the intentional practice of going without food (or certain foods) for a spiritual purpose. It’s not a diet. It’s a spiritual discipline that creates space for God to move in ways our own strength never could.
During a fast, we disconnect from the world’s grip so we can reconnect more fully to God’s power.
Types of Fasts
Choose a fast that’s wise, safe, and realistic for your season:
Week 1: Liquids only (water, broth, juice)
Week 2: Fast one meal
Week 3: Fast two meals
Whatever fast you choose, the goal is simple: feed your spirit, not your flesh.
Why We’re Fasting
We believe this January is a time of breakthrough — in our hearts, in our homes, and in the horizon ahead of us.
Before God moves through us, He often moves in us.
For 21 days, we’re pausing, praying, and seeking God with fresh hunger and faith.
Fasting helps us:
Breakthrough rarely happens by accident — it happens when we intentionally make room for God.
What We’re Praying For
We’re uniting our church around three core areas:
1. Breakthrough for the Heart
We’re asking God to transform the inner places we can’t fix on our own — fears, habits, patterns, wounds, and areas where unbelief has taken root.
2. Breakthrough for the Home
We’re believing for restoration, unity, and renewal within households, marriages, friendships, and every space we influence.
3. Breakthrough for the Horizon
We’re praying for clarity, direction, and purpose — for our lives, our church, and our city. We want God to prepare us for the people we will reach and serve in this next season.
WEEK 1 — Breakthrough for the Heart
Scripture: Mark 9:20–29
Theme: Some things only change through prayer and fasting.
Focus: Renewal, surrender, honest faith.
WEEK 2 — Breakthrough for the Home
Scripture: Joshua 21:14–15, 16, 22–23
Theme: Don’t settle in the promise — grow within it.
Focus: Households, relationships, alignment, generational faith.
WEEK 3 — Breakthrough for the Horizon
Scriptures: Acts 13:2–3; Acts 14:23; Isaiah 58:6–9
Theme: Breakthrough isn’t just for us — it’s for God’s mission through us.
Focus: Calling, leadership, justice, our city, Grand Opening.

Fasting impacts the body — use wisdom.
Can I still participate?
Absolutely. Fasting is for everyone — whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.
Do I have to fast all 21 days?
No. Start where you are and choose what’s sustainable.
Do I have to give up all food?
No. Choose the type of fast that fits your season and health.
What if I mess up?
Grace. Start again the next moment. God honors your heart, not your streak.
What do I do instead of eating?
Pray. Read Scripture. Journal. Worship. Fasting without prayer is just dieting — fasting with prayer leads to breakthrough.
